This 1849 watercolor on ivory miniature portrait of Rebecca Wetherill by George Hewitt Cushman has been decoupaged onto an antique, unmarked saucer hand painted with roses, violets, leaves, and gilt.

Cushman was an American engraver and painter of miniatures in the mid 19th century. This painting is of wife’s sister and is in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
