American White Pelican on German Dessert Plate, Audubon 311

This John James Audubon painting of an American White Pelican, Plate 311 from his Birds of America, has been decoupaged onto an antique German dessert plate with original brown luster. 

6” x .5” x 6”

Birds of America was printed between 1827 and 1838 and there are four Pelicans counted among the 436 life-sized watercolors of North American birds. This decoupaged plate is the third of four, one of each of Audubon’s pelicans.
